The app communicates with the web environment using internet either through data or WIFI. This is how the app receives rota updates and sends information back to the web environment. Depending on your location, there may not be signal to your device for data or WIFI but it is still possible to use most areas of the app as some data is cached for when the device is in signal again.
Without signal, you are able to:
View your rota - This will be the latest version received when the device had signal
Check in/out of bookings
Complete tasks
Create and view notes
You are not able to view documents without internet to reduce the storage space the app uses
